The Television

Tip number 2: I find having something like an exercise book for writing my dreams down into neatly from my night's scribble version has been good for me.
On the front of the exercise book I write down the dated period of dreams.
I date each dream when I write it into the exercise book page.
I also have a small alphabet book (like the old telephone A-Z Index). Every time I have a dream I add it.
For example, say I have a dream about a house. I go to 'H' in my alphabet index book and write down 'house' and the date of the dream that I just had. That way, down the track if I'm looking for this particular dream, I look up 'H', then 'house', and I have the date right there in front of me. Saves me flicking through pages and pages, books upon books for a dream that I want to re-read. (Common themes can show up this way too. I can see what I have a lot of dreams about. For example, I've had a lot of dreams about being the driver of vehicles.)
The Television: 3 Dreams
21/2/2016 - There were different groups of people all sitting around watching different things on different televisions. I went for a walk for some reason, and was getting in people's way of the programs they were watching on the television.
7/4/2016 - I was explaining to a Christian about the spiritual battle that was going on nationally through the television channels - their programs, and their effects on people.
April 2016 - I was trying to get someone's attention. This person was watching television (no program in particular), and I was smashing down a very large glass jar on the bench trying to gain their attention over and over (I can't believe it didn't break). I just could not get their attention. The television had their full and total attention. This person just kept staring straight ahead at it.

Interpretations:
1st Dream: This dream is likely to mean that people don't like missing their television hours and/or programs. (This could even be to the point that they don't go out at specific times or days so they can watch their programs.) Basically, they don't like anything getting in their way of their allotted time or schedule.
2nd Dream: This dream was specific to Christians.
Not all Christians see that television can have a spiritual pull.

There's the pull of the television having to be on in the background (white noise or companion).
There's the pull of needing/wanting to be continually up-to-date with the current news (overloaded).
There's the pull of relaxation into a world that's not real (escapism). There's the pull of living many hours each week in a zoned out state in which one does not have to think (entertained).
There's the pull of habit (now a part of your daily life).
There's the pull of the sitcom (for a laugh). But many sitcoms are far, far, from Christian morals and standards.

Of course not all television is a problem. There may be a movie you might enjoy or a documentary you're interested in. The thing is, as Christians we have to be real about, why we watch television, what we watch on television, the amount of television we watch cumulatively, and any affect it may have on us personally or others in the same household.
As Christians, we need to also be aware of the airways. For example, when we worship God we're reaching out to God into the airways and reaching (an opening) into His realm, when we're watching say a documentary on say plants the airways are pretty neutral, but when we watch say a horror movie or dark humour we can open the airways into the enemies realm.

3rd Dream: This dream is all about the pull and complete focus that television can have on a viewer (regardless of the program/content).

End note: People got excited when television was introduced. They could now see rather than just listen. But it's easy to forget what types of shows started out on the television and how the hours were restricted. Today, one has the option of hundreds of channels 24/7. We may think this is progress and a treasure of sorts, but at what cost?
